Referring Other Donors

It was the end of the month. I had just looked up our list of monthly donations. To my surprise, there was a large gift from someone I didn’t know.

“Do you know this person?” I asked my wife, pointing to the name on the screen.

“No, I don’t,” she replied. “Maybe it was an accident. Where are they from?”

The unknown supporter was from the same city as my wife’s aunt. We did further research. Turns out the aunt had made photocopies of our small prayer card* and handed them out to friends at her church. One of the ladies she gave a copy to was inspired to send a gift.

People give to people. This is the number one principle of fundraising.

It’s usually hard to get someone to support a person they don’t know. But there is an exception. That exception is when someone uses his or her own influence to tell others, “I believe this cause is worthy of supporting and I believe you will, too.”

Use your influence to help mobilize prayer and financial support for your worker. Ask them for extra copies of their prayer cards and hand them out to others. Share their stories* (without publicly revealing the details of their ministries) and give others a clear picture of how your workers are ministering.

And you never know, God may use you to inspire others to join in supporting your worker.
