Heather had been on the field for two years. She came back to her supporting church eager to connect with the friends and families that had been praying for her.
After the first few visits, she discovered that many people didn’t remember what she had written in her newsletters. She felt discouraged and forgotten. But then, on her third Sunday, a woman she didn’t know well approached her and said, “I’ve been praying for your friend Amina. What happened since you last prayed with her a month ago?”
Heather burst into tears in front of the woman who had been paying attention.
Your active interest in workers’ ministries is a spiritual ministry in and of itself. By engaging in their lives and ministries, you help validate their callings. It reminds them that what they are enduring for the sake of the Gospel is not wasted.
Read your worker’s newsletters, pray for them, and remind them that you are praying. Ask questions to follow up on the things they have shared in their newsletters.
Workers want to know that their work is meaningful and that their supporters care by staying informed on their lives and ministries.
