Helping with Newsletters

Do you ever delete a newsletter before even opening it?

Have you ever winced when a newsletter from a certain worker lands in your inbox?

We are not all gifted the same way. Most workers are not writers or marketers. Many of them dread the prospect of writing a newsletter. That makes it easy to let the task fall to the bottom of their priority list.

And yet, a well-written newsletter is the most effective tool for engaging friends, family, and churches in their ministry.

If you see opportunities for improvement in workers’ newsletters, consider giving them helpful feedback. Tell them what sort of news you find engaging. Suggest areas where they should offer more detail and which topics to focus on less.

If you are a skilled writer, offer to edit their newsletters.

Better yet, volunteer to refresh the look of their newsletter by creating a simple template for them through a free service such as MailChimp. Having a visually appealing, user-friendly template can dramatically lessen a worker’s anxiety when faced with writing their next newsletter.
