Don’t Forget Birthdays

What can you get for $1.15?

Not a whole lot.

But you can make a worker’s day by spending that $1.20 on an international first-class stamp, adhering it to a card, and mailing it just a few weeks before his or her birthday. Nothing says “You’re thought of and cared for” like snail mail that crosses oceans to be delivered into your worker’s hands.

You may also consider collecting birthday cards from your prayer group and friends from church. Then send them in a special package to your worker. What a welcome inundation, to have a dozen or so cards to open from loved ones!

Sending a care package is another, albeit more time consuming, way to bless your worker. Ask your worker for tips on the best way to pack and mail the package. Find out if there is anything specific they or their families would like to receive. Be sure to get exactly what they’ve asked for—remember that your worker can’t go to the nearest Target to get the item they requested in lieu of your substitute.

Another way to encourage your worker is to give a special financial gift. Don’t forget to send an email or to include a special message with the gift to wish them a happy birthday.

These fairly small acts have a huge impact in demonstrating your love and support to singles and families on the field.
